Mid-Peninsula District Meeting

Mid-Peninsula District Coordinators:

Presenter: Carol Dweck, PhD

Program Description: Professor Dweck will present her groundbreaking research on mindsets and will show their important effects on people's achievement and well-being. She will then discuss some common ways in which the mindsets have been misinterpreted or misapplied, followed by new research on how growth and fixed mindsets are actually transmitted or changed.

Learning Goals:

  1. Learn what the fixed and growth mindsets are.  
  2. Understand their effects on well-being and achievement.
  3. Understand how mindsets can be changed.
About the Presenter:
Carol Dweck, PhD is widely regarded as one of the world's leading researchers in the fields of personality, social psychology and developmental psychology. She is the Lewis and Virginia Eaton Professor of Psychology at Stanford University and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She is the author of numerous publications including "Mindset - The New Psychology of Success."

Workshop Logistics:
The meeting room is on the third floor next to the cafe with free parking below the building. Take the Main Elevator. Meeting time is 12-2:00 PM with the first 15 minutes reserved for signing in and networking. The presentation starts at 12:15 PM following announcements. 1.5 CEUs will be offered for LCSWs - members earn credits at no cost. Credits for non-members is $15 per meeting.
