From School to the Real World:
A Conference for Graduating Clinical Social Workers

As you prepare for graduation and the working world, the California Society for Clinical Social Work (CSCSW), your statewide clinical social work professional association, invites you to spend a Saturday with us. The Conference, offered in two locations, will provide you the opportunity to learn more about CSCSW and what it can offer you as you begin your professional career in clinical social work. In addition, the Conference will provide you a chance to network with potential mentors, consultants and possibly some potential employers. You will also get to meet new colleagues from the other Southern California social work schools while attending informative workshops.

Consultation Groups

Is a consultation group part of your professional practice?

Participation in a consultation group is a time-honored way of enhancing clinical skills, integrating conceptual understanding and maintaining high practice standards. If you would like to connect with others in a confidential small group setting to discuss the challenges and dilemmas that arise in your work, consider joining one of the consultation groups sponsored by the California Society for Clinical Social Work. Two CSCSW groups have openings in May:

LCSW Consultation Group / West Los Angeles

Six meetings, every other Friday, 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Beginning Date: May 9, 2008
Office locations: 10921 Wilshire Blvd., Ste. 610, Los Angeles, 90024
Fee: $180/ CSCSW Members, $210 Non-members
Consultant: Hindy Nobler, Ph.D., LCSW

Hindy Nobler, Ph.D., LCSW will be starting up her West Los Angeles consultation group again. As in the past, recently licensed clinicians are invited to join with seasoned practitioners for case presentation and discussion. The group is limited to six participants. Although the group will focus broadly on all modalities of therapy, including work with individuals and couples, it may be of particular interest to clinicians who are providing group psychotherapy, due to Dr. Nobler's extensive experience in this area.

LCSW Consultation Group / San Diego

Six meetings, every other Friday, 1:00-2:30 pm or TBA

Marjorie Milstein, LCSW will be continuing her consultation groups in San Diego and has space for new members. These groups, limited to 6 people, will provide support and assist participants in sharpening their clinical skills through case presentation and exploration. The emphasis is on case conceptualization from a psychodynamically informed perspective, with careful attention given to the therapeutic process, including transference and countertransference dynamics.

Please Note: There will be a 15% administrative fee charged for all refunds requested in writing and received 2 days prior to the beginning day of the group. After that date there will be no refunds issued. There is a $20 charge for returned checks or invalid credit cards.
