Description:

By developing an understanding of the nervous system, clinicians can integrate mind-body interventions into clinical practice. Clinicians can use a client-centered approach to treatment by helping clients reduce states of arousal and increase states of calm. Delivering therapy through a nervous system lens can help clients replace patterns of protection and explore opportunities for connection.

This course will review principles of nervous system states, neuroscience, and trauma-informed care to integrate a bottom-up and top-down therapy approach. Participants will learn and practice a range of neural exercises, right-and-left brained movements, and vagus nerve skills to support clients during the therapeutic process.

- Jill Baumgartner, LCSW, Presenter

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able

  1. Identify common body responses for three nervous system states.
  2. Discover three techniques to recognize and reduce symptoms of anxiety and trauma.
  3. Provide clients with two self-regulation tools to foster a sense of agency and promote well-being.
  4. Gain a comprehensive understanding of autonomic nervous system influences and explore implications for treatment delivery and treatment planning
