    Description:

Forensic social work includes a wide range of criminal and civil practice. This presentation will focus on mental health treatment and collaboration with supervision in the community of persons involved in the criminal justice system. The Risk-Need-Responsivity (RNR) model is the evidence-based practice in correctional treatment proven to reduce recidivism. The presenter will cover how to integrate this model with evidence-based mental health and substance use treatment to develop effective individualized and comprehensive treatment plans. The presentation will also cover the challenge of the dual role of care and control inherent in this work and how social workers can ethically manage the challenge. Finally, the presenter will ask attendees to examine themselves as to whether they are the right fit for this field.

    Learning Objectives:

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

    1. List three components of an evidence-based forensic treatment/supervision plan.
    2. Identify three best practices of an effective probation/parole and mental health collaboration.
    3. Describe the challenge of the “dual role” required of forensic mental health workers.
    4. Describe the professional and personal characteristics of workers who effectively balance the dual roles of care and control with forensic clients.

    Description:

By developing an understanding of the nervous system, clinicians can integrate mind-body interventions into clinical practice. Clinicians can use a client-centered approach to treatment by helping clients reduce states of arousal and increase states of calm. Delivering therapy through a nervous system lens can help clients replace patterns of protection and explore opportunities for connection.

This course will review principles of nervous system states, neuroscience, and trauma-informed care to integrate a bottom-up and top-down therapy approach. Participants will learn and practice a range of neural exercises, right-and-left brained movements, and vagus nerve skills to support clients during the therapeutic process.

    - Jill Baumgartner, LCSW, Presenter

    Learning Objectives:

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able

    1. Identify common body responses for three nervous system states.
    2. Discover three techniques to recognize and reduce symptoms of anxiety and trauma.
    3. Provide clients with two self-regulation tools to foster a sense of agency and promote well-being.

          Description:

I often see therapists create beautiful websites using popular website builders— but despite looking nice, these sites don’t always attract the new clients therapists hope for. That’s usually because important behind-the-scenes elements like Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Web Accessibility best practices were overlooked. This workshop exists to fill that gap.

In this workshop, I’ll share ethical strategies that help the right-fit clients find you while staying true to your values. When your site is both findable and welcoming, you create a bigger impact and better serve the people you’re meant to reach.

This workshop supports both licensed and pre-licensed therapists who either have a website already or are considering building one. For therapists newer to private practice, it offers practical tools to build a strong online presence from the start. For more seasoned clinicians, it helps clarify why your current website may not be reaching clients— and how to fix that.

There are endless SEO and accessibility “best practices” out there, and it can feel overwhelming.  I’ll help you focus on the most important actions for therapists that you can start implementing right away to boost your website’s SEO and accessibility, so you can make meaningful progress without the overwhelm.
